Public Transport? Hell no.

Having not made much effort to update my internet fanclub of 0 (zero) with my life's events, i'll begin rekindling my love(hate) for blogs(rants) with a lovely message:

Fuck You public transport.

So this week i've had to work my final night shifts for January, which incidentally was a Friday, Saturday and Sunday consecutively, causing me to have zero weekend (or atleast, spare time in-line with the rest of the world's weekends). This normally i'm not so fussed about, but the month so far had been rather busy anyway, and i'm yet to have the spare time on shift you'd expect from nightshifts, and rather than having some lazy time to get life admin and nightshift scripting done, ive actually been working none stop - although obviously made time for a few seasons of breaking bad here and there.

Gentlemen, it's not just me that wants this.. right?

To be brutally honest, my house MUST have this as it's basement. although add a few sofas and a foldaway poker table.

Accidentally stumbled upon these.. i want!

Turns out they're from a tuning company called "Novitec" - specialist in Ferrari Fidders.

The middle-class in me is amused by this.

and this one.

Found by Si, turns out his entire YouTube page is pretty hilarious. Worth spending a few minutes watching some of the videos, beats a lot of current mainstream stage acts.

Snowing Sunday

Well, the first night of this so called "Ice Storm". While 'revising' for final exam of the semester we discovered it to be snowing heavily outside during our trip to the Chinese take-away. Wondered out into the weather for some snow fun. Some photos:

after wondering to the main road we found ourselves in some seriously heavy snow, as with the third picture. The snow stopped us walking in one direction through fear of frostbitten eyes, or something. does that exist?

Patriotic Coffee

"Cool" i said, until i saw the price.

...Though i really do still want one of these amazing coffee tables. You can have it in either boring blue, or union jack, so guess which one i fancy. also, they built in a plug socket to the table leg! genius?!

A really good centre piece for a funky lounge, clearly.. I'll add it to my wishlist. I also quite like the sofas.

Dog

Well, some sad news.

My dog, Charlotte, or 'Lottie' as commonly known, died this week. A bit sudden considering her normal happy behaviour over the Christmas period, even if she was almost 12 years old, which in Dog-Land i'm told is not a bad lifespan.

Losing a dog is a strange one, its not like losing a relative or friend, but almost like losing a part of what you call home, of which my dog was definately a big chunk.

A Picture:

Last photo i took i think, on Christmas eve on the patio in France.

Gambia... DONE.

Well, a delayed post but what the hell, i've been busy. really busy.

after returning from The Gambia pre-xmas I've slowly sorted all the photos and gone through the faff process of adding everyone I met on Facebook etc. Don't get me wrong, its not that I don't want to keep up relations - I just don't like Facebook.

Anyway, The Gambia. The locals are really nice and eager to get involved. Everyone seems to love the promise that tourists bring, especially the English. I've acquired quite a few friends now in Bakau, including staff, pupils and some of the locals. I think there's plenty of scope for my return, and i look forward to seeing it all again. Some of the photos taken are below, although we took hundreds i'll just display a few to give an idea.

As for the work we completed, the major projects were:

  • Renovating and restoring a toilet block, installing doors and repainting the building to create a Girls Toilets.
  • Installing, Repairing, Strengthening and creating drainage systems for school water taps, as well as increasing the water pressure.
  • Building a huge scale fenced garden for the school, for both education and nutritional needs - ensuring sustainability. All from scratch!
  • All school desks and chairs we're repaired or replaced (hundreds!)
  • Paint jobs completed around the school, including a facelift for the nursery block and grade1/2, and repainting the school's logos and blackboards.

It's a great feeling to really see the progress and effect some hard work and funding can achieve, beats paying £2 a month! although seeing how much £2 a month could buy out there, i will no longer discourage it! It was interesting to learn that for roughly £100 you could pay for almost a child's full education!

Anyway, any questions or if you want to see more pictures, just contact me.

Right!

Now that my gambia volunteering is confirmed, flights paid for and vaccines booked (some already received..), i've created a small page explaining the trip and its background, and how to donate.

hopefully i can raise enough to fund the trip without leaving me with no money to purchase people christmas presents (or feed myself..).

click here to see for yourself!

if you have any questions, email me and i'll happily answer (especially if you're considering donating!)

Quantum of Dissapointment

Why Why why.

Spoilers follow...

Plot
Bond Gets Chased
Bond meets Bad Guy
Bond Kills Bad Guy (after bad guy kills bond's first sexual victim)
END.

I have never seen a film (aside from iRobot, i'm told) with so much product placement. I now have huge urges to purchase hydrogen powered Fords, Range rovers, Euros, an omega watch. Oh, and 502 Sony Ericsson phones, Sony Vaio Toys.

Oh, and i want a microsoft surface.

Possibly, infact - Definately, the most annoying camera work of any film I've seen in my reasonably lengthly life so far. Has the director got ADHD? Or does he have slow motion cameras in his head? I feel like i've been abused by the cinema system. Bond? Bourne? neither. Hollywood action? Correct.

Oh - on the Positive side. Well. They did bring back some "dark Bond", and the old school outrageous buildings from the 60s/70s films, there's one of those too.

I am Angry.
